Founder
In 1966, Capt. M.M. Kulkarni founded General Instruments Consortium with a clear conviction — that India's industrial growth must be supported by dependable instrumentation engineered domestically.
Drawing from military discipline and engineering precision, he established principles that continue to guide the organization:
Long before manufacturing self-reliance became national focus, he was advancing what is now recognized as the spirit of Make in India.
He built more than infrastructure — he built standards.
Six decades later, those standards remain intact.

Since joining the organisation in 1993, Mr. Raghavendra Kulkarni has led its next phase of growth and expansion by reinforcing its core foundation of quality and customer satisfaction. His leadership has focused on building capable teams, investing in advanced technologies, and aligning processes with global benchmarks, ensuring growth remains structured, disciplined, and capability driven.
Under his direction, General Instruments Consortium has evolved into a globally recognised engineering partner, expanding its presence worldwide, achieving key Oil & Gas approvals including Aramco, establishing indigenous capabilities such as Mineral Insulated cable manufacturing, diversifying into electrical process heating, and sustaining consistent double-digit growth over the last two decades. Today, he continues to drive the group’s measured expansion, strengthening global reach while upholding the organisation’s core principles.
